"To whom it may concern,
The Buckland Home Contractor Mr. Kurt Bucholz did splendid work on my home. There was a new roof, siding, and windows put on. All with his expertise and his courteous employees. There was a daily clean-up. To see all this, is to admire it."
Sincerely,
Mrs. Julia Y. Maichack
"Dear Kurt,
The workmanship performed on the copper gutter installed on our home warrants my writing to you about them.
We have, of course, recieved many compliments about them. But all copper gutters look good and add high quality appearence to any home or building.
But you workmanship (not the copper gutters, per se) was highly complimented by my Uncle Peter DaFazio. Prior to hearing Uncle Pete praise what you had done, I inherently knew it was worl of the first class.
I have to tell you what recieving such a compliment from Uncle Pete means.
He and my grandfather were partners and very successful mason/stone contractors. They had learned their trade from their father and uncles in Rome, Italy. Their company did the masonary work on many building throughout New England; including the Trinity College Chappel. They had work crews of 40-60 men. My father showed me many of the buildings they constructed. Their workmanship could be described as the art of masonry work.
Uncle Pete was, to put it mildly, a tough boss. I honestly can't ever recall hearing a single word of praise from him. And I spent many summer vacations while a high school and college student, working as a laborer for him. I personally saw him twice in the heat of rage, fire and throw off the job masons doing what he regarded to be inferior work. On one of those ocassions he picked up a trowel abd spent te rest of the day building a brick abd stone arc while wearing a suit and tie. I heard a million stories about him from my father and Uncle Lou. Everyone on the job was always afraid of him.
Now I'll tell you how impressed he was with your work and what he kept saying about it.
He wanted to know who you were and where you were from. I think he was surprised and disappointed to hear you weren't from Italy and didn't learn the skill of soldering there.
He went around the entire house saying "you dont see that kind of work around here anymore." He seemed very impressed with the skill required on the hand soldered joints and the way they had been polished. I didn't even know you had polished all of the joints.
He told me I had been very fortunate to have found a solderer with such "old fashion" skill. He would point to a joint and say "this was done by a very patient person who knew what he was doing."
I've told this story to several relatives who knoew how Uncle Pete was on the job. They can't believe it and feel he must be mellowing in his old age.
Believe me when I tell you, your work has recieved what many people in the construction field would regard as a unique and very high compliment.
We appreciate more than simply the beautiful job you have done for us. Your price was even less of than that of the wholesale contractors who send inexperienced aluminum gutters workers to try to install copper gutters on homes.
I found you to be a person of great integrity. You did everything you said you were going to do. The job progressed according to your promised schedule. You even did additional work that wasn't part of the orignal contract/agreement, with no addtional cost to us.
Please feel free to take any of your prospective customers here to show them the copper gutters you installed.
You can count on the fact that I will always highly reccoment Buckland Home Contractor to anyone I know in need of any of your type work.
Well, I just wanted to let you know what my Uncle Pete had to say about your work."
Sincerely,
Paul DaFazio
